Once you get there:

Camp Hi-Sierra is actually a 2.6-mile drive downhill from Highway 108. Our turn-off is approximately 30 miles East of Sonora, and about one mile West of Cold Springs Market. In other words, if you're coming from Sonora on Highway 108 as most of us do most of the time, if you reach Cold Springs Market, you've gone too far - but only barely.

There is a nice wide emergency shoulder right before our turn as well as large signs for both Jenness Park (a Baptist camp with whom we share a road) and Camp Hi-Sierra. The camp road is largely unpaved, though sections of broken pavement and gravel make it a bit better than a fully dirt road. In dry weather ordinary trucks and cars of all types have no trouble on our road, though wintertime visitors will frequently contend with snow. The camp road loops left to reach Jenness Park, and you'll want to loop to the right for Camp Hi-Sierra and then pass straight through the four-way intersection that splits the two roads (look carefully both ways at this road and honk during ordinary daylight hours before crossing).

Once you arrive within sight of Camp Hi-Sierra's gate, please slow to 5 mph or less - it helps keep dust down and makes sure that you don't surprise any Scouts or animals. If you arrive at the start of an ordinary summer camp session, a Hi-Sierra staff member will often show you to your assigned parking place. If no one is around to direct you, please park and immediately check in at the Camp office.
